The rig owned and operated by soundpsin is enough to handle roughly 300 guests in an fair sized room.  For larger parties speaker are normally rented from Long & McQuade a reliable source for rental equipment. 

Digital is now the wave of the future but soundspin still utlizies analog CDs to back up / complement the high quality digital files used when Djing. 

Here is a normal set-up:

2x Yorkville NX550 550watt mains.
2x Yorkville Elite LS700p 700watt subwoofers.
2x Denons S3500 CD turntables.
Ecler Nuo 4 - four channel mixer.
Mackie DXF 6 - sound board.
PC Laptop using Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro II DJ Software.
Native Instruments Audio 8 external soundcard.
Native Instruments Kontrol X1 controller.
Line 6 Handheld cordless Mic.
Shure Beta SM58 wired Mic.
2 American DJ Spot 250s moving heads.
American DJ  Revo III effects light.
Apple IPAD - back up system.

For that nastolgic DJ feel, requests can be made to add two Technic 1200 turntables to the set-up!  (I will never sell  those!) Native Instruments Traktor Scratch Pro II uses special control vinyl to manipulate mp3s located on the laptop throught the software interface.

Trust me a DJ needs to look the part.  Standing there with an iphone connected to a set of rented speakers doesn't!
